Jesus Christ
Not the labors of my hands Can fulfill thy law’s demands. Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears forever flow, All for sin could not atone; Thou must save and thou alone.

- The Person of Christ, by A. A. Hodge It is the grand distinction of Christianity that all its doctrines and all its forces center in the Person of its Founder and Teacher. In the case of all the other founders of philosophical sects and religions, the entire interest of their mission centers in the doctrines they teach, the opinions they disseminate.
- Christ Our Penal Substitute, by R. L. Dabney Arguably the best work on the subsititutionary death of Christ. These lectures were delivered at Davidson College and Columbia Seminary by Robert Lewis Dabney, while he was old in age, and totally blind.
- The Deity of Jesus Christ "But who do YOU say that I am?" (Jesus Christ). This question, asked by Christ of His disciples, not only will determine the eternal destiny of His disciples, but will also, depending on our answer, determine ours. For the Scriptures plainly tell us that whoever trust in Christ will have eternal life. The question before us, as with the disciples, is 'Who do YOU say that Christ is?'"
- The Atonement "The two great objectives to be accomplished by Jesus Christ in His mission to this world were, first, the removal of the curse under which mankind labored as a result of the disobedience and fall, and second, the restoration of men to the image and fellowship of God. Both of these were essential to salvation. The work of Christ in reconciling God and men we call the Atonement; and this doctrine, we believe, lies at the very heart of the Christian system."
- Kenotic Theology The History of the Church, its creeds, and Scripture all adamantly assert the truth that: "The Son of God, the second person of the Trinity being very and eternal God, of one substance, and equal with the Father, did, when the fullness of time was come, take upon him man's nature, with all the essential properties and common infirmities thereof, yet without sin; being conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost, in the womb of Mary, of her substance. So that two whole, perfect, and distinct natures, the Godhead and manhood, were inseparably joined together in one person without conversion, composition, or confusion, Which person is very God and very man, yet one Christ, the only Mediator between God and man" (WCF 8,2).
- The Incarnation "The Son of God, the second person of the Trinity, being very and eternal God, of one substance, and equal with the Father, did, when the fullness of time was come, take upon him man's nature, with all the essential properties and common infirmities thereof, yet without sin; being conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost, in the womb of the virgin Mary, of her substance. So that two whole, perfect, and distinct natures, the Godhead and manhood, were inseparably joined together in one person without conversion, composition, or confusion. Which person is Very God and very man, yet one Christ, the only Mediator between God and man"
- How Could Jesus Be Both Divine and Human? "How can a person have a divine nature and a human nature at the same time in the way that we believe Jesus Christ did?"
- The Satisfaction of Christ "The word Atonement is commonly used to describe Christ's sacrifice of Himself on the cross, reconciling the sinner and God. This definition, however, fails to give complete recognition to all that Christ did in redeeming his people; it conveys to most people only the idea of the removal of guilt by His suffering the penalty, but not the equally important truth that through Christ's active obedience He has gained for His people eternal life."
- Erroneous Views Concerning The Person of Christ "As a matter of historical record the full statement concerning the person of Christ was arrived at only after protracted and violent controversies, during the course of which every possible interpretation of the biblical data was examined, its elements of truth sifted out and preserved while the elements of error which deformed it were exposed and discarded."
- The Human Development of Jesus "And unless God has purchased his Church with his own blood, in what shall his Church find a ground for its hope?" -- B. B. Warfield.
